Material Hauling Software Company MatHaul Partners with Graphable to Deliver Revolutionary, Industry-specific ERP Platform
The Challenge
Bulk material and aggregate hauling, while not often an industry at the top of people’s minds, is a vital service for infrastructure, construction, and development. In 2022, 2.47 billion metric tons of aggregate products—gravel, crushed stone, and sand—were produced in the United States. The transportation required to get these products to construction sites and processing locations comprises a thriving and essential market all on its own. That number doesn’t reflect the hauling volume of similar materials, like asphalt or dirt, and other bulk or dump hauling.
The software supporting this industry has not kept up with modern expectations. Built on legacy development tools, the billing, routing, and dispatch tools available to the market are slow, cumbersome applications installed locally. Because of their lack of connectivity, obtaining anything beyond rudimentary analytics from these tools is often impossible.
Limitations in these legacy solutions have also led to invoicing and payroll errors that cost material hauling companies significantly every year. Even the complexity arising from the different, custom variations of trucks required for hauling specific materials has a measurable impact that ultimately affects all aspects of hauling: material sales, dispatch, delivery, ticketing, invoicing, driver pay, and more.
The Solution
MatHaul was founded to build a better software platform for material hauling companies that took advantage of modern possibilities and technological advances. Built on a core of Neo4j graph database, performing analytics with the Domo platform, and using the Graphable-authored Neo4j connector for Domo, MatHaul’s platform gives hauling companies granular control over each order, enabling users to filter results instantaneously.
Integrating with Google’s map API enhances the user experience even further, making it possible to plan routes automatically using Google Maps. From the same single view into the order, users can adjust load sizes and other factors related to the shipment and see how those changes affect the route’s cost in real-time. MatHaul partnered closely with Graphable at every step of the development process. Graphable brought end-to-end application development expertise and graph analytics knowledge to the table to help MatHaul realize its vision. This included looking at the end customers’ needs and recommending valuable new opportunities, like the Google Maps API for route planning and visualization.
